A Dark Post-Punk band from Giessen? Yes, you heard that right. In a small German university town known more for science, history, and an infamous pedestrian overpass called the “Elephant Toilet,” Our Visit To The Moon emerges like a shadowy anomaly, breaking free from the usual local sounds of extreme metal, punk, pop, and rap.Forget about Röntgen, Liebig, Goethe, and Büchner for a moment—this isn’t about them. Our Visit To The Moon isn’t here to fit into the city's past; they’re here to carve out something new. Moody, atmospheric, and unapologetically different, they bring a dark, hypnotic and emotional energy that stands apart in a place that wasn't expecting it.So, why Giessen? No one knows! Why Post-Punk? Because they want to!!

CHRONICLE

The Band Era2023 - 2025:
2023 sees the recording and release of their first-ever single "Blurry" (mixed and mastered by "Johann Faustus" at Zeitsparkasse Mediaservices). In summer they release it first on Bandcamp and then on Spotify and all other known streaming services and online stores via RecordJet online distribution.
Around Halloween 2023, they play an atmospheric gig under the motto ‘Night of the Living Braindead’ at AK44 Giessen alongside Giessen's top-class punk veterans Die Arnolds, the stoner/booze rock combo ‘Türbo Läzer’ (in which Consti also played guitar, with their last gig to date) and the misfits/horror punk cover band Disfits.
On 27 January 2024 they play a well-received support-gig for Darmstadt darkwave-act DELTΔ KOMPLEX at AK44 in Giessen. You can call these three first gigs "OVTTM's AK44 Newcomer Trilogy", if you want.
On 2 March 2024, OVTTM support Tristesse ((post-)punk from Kassel) and Suspectre (garage/post-punk from Frankfurt) at Kulturbahnhof Lollar. You can watch live footage from this concert on YouTube.
In mid-April 2024, they release a studio demo of their song Little Creature exclusively on Bandcamp, Soundcloud and YouTube (also mixed and mastered by "Johann Faustus" at Zeitsparkasse Mediaservices).

Since summer 2024, OVTTM are busy writing new songs, recording song tracks for upcoming singles and planning gigs for 2025.
On 15 February 2025 they get the chance to support wave-punk band KURSCHATTEN from Dortmund at Kulturbahnhof Lollar. This is the first time they have band merch with them: A small amount of band logo t-shirts and pin badges, which are well received by their friends and new fans they could win over with their live performance.
2020 - 2022:
Unfortunately, after a long struggle with the decision and private reasons, guitarist Dominik leaves the project ultimately at the beginning of 2021.
Even though the lockdowns mean weeks off, singer and bassist Karol, guitarist Martin and drummer Sebastian try to keep rehearsing as often as they can (thanks to the COVID-19 vaccines and tests!), because they enjoy it and see the potential. They decide to go on as a serious band and don't give up on chasing that future keyboard/synth player.
Martin's riffs, reminiscent of late 70's - 90's alternative styles, shape the sound of OVTTM.
A first permanent line-up crystallises in mid-2021 (at that time still without lead guitarist Felix): The band (finally!) finds a keyboard player in Consti, who fundamentally shapes the band's style with his playing and backing vocals.
More original songs are written and existing songs, like LIttle Creature and Far Away are reworked in the new gloomy post-punk style.
In April 2022, Karol leaves his former band BLOODJOB to devote himself to OVTTM as his only band.
The following summer, Felix, a good friend of keyboardist Consti, joins as lead guitarist and the band is now complete. They work flat out on their first programme, as Consti is in the process of arranging their first live gig.
On 26 November 2022, the time has come: OVTTM play their live debut at AK44 in Giessen as support for SUCK (punk rock/doom from Kassel), together with Scuff Marks (post-punk/-hardcore from Giessen). A video footage of the song 9 to 5 from that gig is avaible on YouTube.

The Project Era
2018 - 2020:
During this time, Karol is still active as a bassist in the Giessen-based brutal death metal band BLOODJOB, and finding a keyboardist for his side project Our Visit To The Moon is proving to be almost impossible.
Karol, Sebastian and Dominik set out to find a second guitarist to complement Dominik's playing if no keyboardist can be found. They record a rehearsal room demo as an audio sample for anyone responding to their musician request, but never release it.
After a long unsuccessful search for a permanent keyboard/synth player, Martin takes over the position of second guitar player at the end of 2019.
As a four-piece they enthusiastically practice Leo's songs, a few covers and a new one called Blurry by Karol.
Due to the outbreak of the global Corona pandemic in the second week of March 2020 and personal reasons, Dominik takes a break from the band.
2014 - 2018:
Bassist Karol joins a Giessen-based project with his friend and guitarist Dominik and then keyboardist and songwriter Leo, after the original singer had quit. The ideas is to make original songs in a moody indie rock or post-punk style.
Leo writes the lyrics to the songs Definition of Fun, Far Away and Little Creature and delivers their fundamental chord and melody ideas. After a short struggle, Karol accepted the role of vocalist. Although he had last sung in a school band, his project mates find that his voice suits the style that is beginning to emerge. He finds joy in singing and playing the bass at the same time.
They practice in Leo's room at his shared-flat and later in the rehearsal rooms of Karol's then main band BLOODJOB and a friend's band at "KiG e.V." in Giessen.
Sebastian joins the band as a drummer. They start to practice in their future rehearsal room near Giessen, but Sebastian will be out of the country for a couple of months on two occasions in these first three years, partly due to work and travel.
Leo suggests the name 'Our Visit To The Moon' (based on part of the lyrics of Leonard Cohen's song "Death Of A Ladies' Man") which is adopted directly.
Saddly Leo has to leave the project in 2018 due to a move to the far away Stuttgart.
